VPN access is required to access Idaho State University network resources from home or other off-campus locations.

How to Request VPN Access
Please click
VPN Request to request access. You will need to receive e-mail confirmation that access has been granted before you are able to install the software.

Type ISU User ID and Password

You will need to dual authenticate using Duo
- If using the Duo Mobile app:
- Click Connect
- Duo will send a push to your phone without a prompt. You will need to approve the access using your Duo Mobile app.
- If using a Duo token or a passcode from the Duo Mobile app or the Password and Account Management Portal:
- Add a comma and the current passcode to the end of your password (no spaces)
- Click Connect

Select Download Mac 32/64 bit, GlobalProtect agent

Open GlobalProtect.pkg in downloads

Click Next when the installation screen appears; repeat until it asks you to install

Click Install button

Type bengalgateway.isu.edu portal address

Type ISU User ID and Password

You will need to dual authenticate using Duo
- If using the Duo Mobile app:
- Click Connect
- Duo will send a push to your phone without a prompt. You will need to approve the access using your Duo Mobile app.
- If using a Duo token, or a passcode from the Duo Mobile app or Password and Account Management Portal:
- Add a comma and the current passcode to the end of your password (no spaces)
- Click Connect
- Note: Duo will remember this login for 12 hours for this device.

Select Yes under User Account Control
Security Permissions (optional if it doesn't prompt you to log in)
If it doesn't prompt you to log in, you may need to go to Security & Privacy in your System Preferences to allow Global Protect access.

Click the Apple icon (top left)

Select System Preferences

Click Security & Privacy

Click the Lock icon (bottom left) in order to make changes

Click Allow near the (bottom right) of that window (if required)
Disconnecting the VPN (Always disconnect from the VPN when not actively working for Idaho State University)

Right-click the GlobalProtect VPN icon

Select Disconnect
Installing Global Protect VPN For MAC Users who have (Updated to OS X Big Sur)

Select Appropriate Download for the device (Mac)

Download & Run the Selected Installer following the instructions
Note: During the installation of the GlobalProtect VPN client, it will require you to allow administrator privileges to install. Run the package and install the old one. An important change, there is one section during the installation with options.
Important: Make sure to check the box for Global Protect System extensions.
Security and Privacy Block
This installation will likely trigger the Security and Privacy block, which will have to be permitted before the client will connect.

Go to Settings

Select Security & Privacy

Click the Lock to make changes and Allow the GlobalProtect to be loaded

Select GlobalProtect application from the taskbar [top right]

Click Connect

You are now connected to the Global Protect client. To disconnect from the VPN service, open Global Protect and click Disconnect.
