[Java] Reverting to Previous Versions (Windows)

Users may need to revert to an older version of Java if they experience incompatibility issues with a program.  

Environment
  • Platform
    • Java
  • Audience Affected
    • Students
Resolution
Uninstall Current Version of Java
  1. Press Windows Button + R key
  2. Enter appwiz.cpl
  3. Press Enter
  4. Find Java 8 in the list of programs
  5. Right click Java 8
  6. Select Uninstall
Install Desired Version of Java
  1. Select the Java SE 8 Archive Downloads link 
  2. Select Desired Version of Java
  3. Run the given installer
  4. Select Install
  5. Select Not Now on prompt informing that it is an out of date version of Java
  6. Close the installer
    • Note: It is recommended to have the restore security prompts box checked.
