Zoom Transcription (Closed Caption)

Summary

During the meeting, the Host can enable Auto-Transcription, which will generate captions as users speak. Based on their preference, participants can turn captioning on. After the meeting and the cloud recording are processed, a transcript will be generated. Viewers of the recording can search the transcript for specific words or phrases and then start the video from that point.

During the meeting, the Host can enable Auto-Transcription, which will generate captions as users speak. Based on their preference, participants can turn captioning on.

After the meeting and the cloud recording are processed, a transcript will be generated. Viewers of the recording can search the transcript for specific words or phrases and then start the video from that point.

This Guide Will Help You to:

  • Enable the live transcript at account level

  • Enable live transcript during meeting

  • Turn on closed caption during meeting (Participant)

  • Review recording transcript

  • Seek further assistance

Enable the Live Transcript at Account Level

  1. Sign in to Zoom.us.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Under the Meeting Tab, verify that Closed Caption is enabled.

    1. If the setting is disabled; toggle to enable it. 

Enable Live Transcript During Meeting

  1. Click Live Transcript

  2. Select Enable Live Transcription.

Turn on Closed Caption during meeting (Participant)

Warning: Participants will not see the following setting until the Host has enabled live transcription.

  1. Click Closed Caption

Review Recording Transcript

  1. Sign in to Zoom.us

  2. In the navigation menu, click Recordings.

  3. Click the name of the recorded meeting. 

    1. You will see a list of recording files.

  4. Click the play icon.

    1. The text of the transcript displays on the right-hand side of the video. 

  5. Hover over a phrase you want to edit and click the pencil icon.

Note: If a phrase belongs to an unknown speaker, you can also hover over Unknown Speaker and click the pencil icon to edit the name.

  1. Make any changes to the text, then click the check mark.  

    1. The updated version of the text is displayed when you play the audio or video file.
