This article will guide you through creating recordings with Panopto and submitting them as assignments or discussion posts in ISU Canvas.
How to Submit a Video to a Panopto Assignment
- Navigate to your course in ISU Canvas and then click on the link to the Assignment you need to submit.
- On the submission page, select the Panopto icon from the text editor tools.
- A window will appear that shows the embedded video selector. You have three options for embedding Panopto content:
-
Choose: Allows you to use a video that you previously recorded in Panopto.
-
To choose an existing recording, browse through your available folders and select your video.
-
Choose your embedded player preferences under Video Embed Options and select Insert.
-
Upload: Allows you to upload an existing video from your computer or other storage device.
-
To upload an existing file, select the Upload tab. On that tab, drag and drop up to 100 video or audio files at a time or click to browse your computer for files.
-
After adjusting the Video Embed Options, select Insert. Note: Panopto will use the file name as the session name, but you can rename this wile the content is uploading.
-
Record: Allows you to record a new Panopto video using the Panopto recording tool. Note: The video quality of a video recording using Panopto Capture will depend on your browser configuration. Aspects like the number of tabs open, number of extensions installed, and amount of ram in your computer can lead to lower-quality video and audio recordings.
-
On the Record tab, select either the Launch Capture to record with the Panopto Capture or Launch App to record with Panopto for Windows or Panopto for Mac.
-
After you finish recording your video, it is important to select Insert in the Add Panopto Video window in order to insert the video into your forum post or assignment. If you miss selecting Insert, your video will disappear, but if you go back in to edit your forum post, you can select Insert on the video to add it to your post.
