Description

This article provides instructions on how to use the UDOIT accessibility assistant in an ISU Canvas course at Idaho State University (ISU). 

The UDOIT (Universal Design Online Content Inspection Tool) is a Canvas-integrated accessibility checker developed by CidiLabs. The tool automatically scans your course content, generates a list of accessibility issues, and provides guidance on how to fix them.

Using the UDOIT Accessibility Checker

  1. Log in to Canvas and open the course where you want to scan your course using UDOIT.
  2. In the course navigation menu, locate and click UDOIT. You will be taken to the UDOIT accessibility assistant.
  3. Click Scan Now to begin analyzing your course content for accessibility issues.
  4. The interactive UDOIT Home Page (external link) will give you a summary of the issues found and an indication of the progress made thus far. 
  5. Follow the provided guidance to easily fix accessibility issues (external link) in your Canvas content and make your files more accessible (external link).
