Description
This article provides instructions on adding testing accommodations such as additional time and/or attempts for students with a qualifying disability in Classic quizzes in ISU Canvas. Note: A classic quiz is indicated by an outlined rocket icon.

Instructions
- From within your course, in Course Navigation, click on the Quizzes link. Note: You can also access quizzes from the Assignments page.
- To add a student accommodation, click on the quiz, then click Moderate This Quiz.
- Next to the name of the student you wish to add an accommodation for, click the Change user extensions (pencil) icon. Alternatively, you can use the Search field to find a specific student.
- If allowing extra Attempts, type the number of additional attempts in the Extra attempts box.
- If allowing extra time on every attempt, type the number of additional minutes in the Extra time on every attempt box. Note: The "Until" date and time setting for a quiz always overrides any time-based accommodations. Therefore, instructors may need to adjust the "Until" date and time in order to create a large enough timing window to allow for the accommodation.
- Click on Save.
Note: In Classic Quizzes, you will have to apply the accommodations to each quiz individually.
It may be helpful to remind the student with an additional time accommodation to start the quiz early enough to allow for the extended time so that they are not cut off when the "Until" date and time is reached. For example, if an accommodation allows a student to receive 1.5x time on an hour-long quiz that closes at 7:00pm, that student needs to begin the quiz no later than 5:30pm in order to receive their full additional time accommodation.
