Project (with audio)

To connect a laptop to the projector and send audio to the wall-mounted speakers:

Connect your laptop to the HDMI cable labeled HDMI w/ Audio at the front of the classroom.
- Alternatively, to use a laptop at the A/V box, disconnect the HDMI cable labeled Laptop from the HDMI pigtail (with the label "Hold Here") plugged into the wall port at the A/V box.
- Reconnect the Laptop HDMI cable to the pigtail for the next user.
Turn on the Yamaha A/V Receiver (right-most unit in the wooden box), either via the Power button on the top-left face of the unit or via the Yamaha remote control.
Use the Input buttons on the left-hand face of the A/V Receiver or on the Yamaha remote to select Front HDMI.
Select HDMI 2 on the Projector by:
1. Using the panel to the left of the projection board:
  1. Press the Power Icon.
  2. Press Source Search.
2. Using the Projector Remote:
  1. Press the Power button.
  2. Press HDMI twice.
On your device, make sure audio is set to output to EPSON PJ.

Project (without audio)

To connect a laptop to the projector without a need for (laptop) audio:

Connect your laptop to the HDMI cable labeled Project Only at the front of the classroom.
Select HDMI 1 on the Projector by:
1. Using the panel to the left of the projection board:
  1. Press the Power Icon.
  2. Press Source Search.
2. Using the Projector Remote:
  1. Press the Power button.
  2. Press HDMI once.

Note: If you need to play audio through the speakers from another source while your laptop is connected to the projector, see the section below on Audio Only.

Audio Only

If you only need audio sent to the room’s speakers, or if you’re using separate devices for audio and video:

Turn on the A/V Receiver (right-most unit in the wooden box), either via the Power button on the top-left face of the unit or via the Yamaha remote control.
Use the Input buttons on the left-hand face of the A/V Receiver or on the Yamaha remote to select your audio source (reference the table below).

To Pair a Bluetooth Device

Turn on the Yamaha A/V Receiver (right-most unit in the wooden box), either via the Power button on the top-left face of the unit or via the Yamaha remote control.
Select Bluetooth on the Yamaha remote or use the input selector (on the front of the receiver) until you reach Bluetooth.
Hold the Memory button on the face of the A/V Receiver until the screen shows “Pairing…”
On your device, navigate to your Bluetooth settings and select Pair or Connect on the “RX-V385 Yamaha” device.

To use Zoom with the Meeting Owl

Follow the steps under Project (without Audio) to connect your laptop to the projector.
Plug the USB cable for the Meeting Owl into your laptop.
Launch your Zoom Meeting, and on the audio/video preview screen:
1. In the drop-down menu with the microphone icon, select Meeting Owl Pro under both “Select a microphone” and “Select a speaker.”
2. In the drop-down menu with the camera icon, select Meeting Owl Camera.

Note: Make sure any audio you play is set to use the Owl’s speaker, otherwise the Owl camera may pan around the room looking for the source of the sound.

Turning off the A/V Equipment

To turn off the Projector, press the Power button twice either on the panel to the left of the projection board or on the Epson Projector remote.
To turn off the Yamaha A/V Receiver, press the (power) button on the top-left of the face of the A/V Receiver.
Turn off any individual devices (e.g., CD Player) used via the device’s power button.

Note: Do not unplug the power strip in the box, nor any device plugged into it. The A/V Receiver can pass through HDMI to the projector in the powered off state (useful to some users), but not if it does not have power.
