Provides a guide on how to use the WordPenScan Go Pen.

To jump to a specific section of the guide, go to “View” in Word and check the “Navigation Pane” check box.

Pen Box Contents

Inside of the box there is a smaller white box and the pen.

Inside of the smaller white box, there is a small carrying bag for the pen, a charging cord, and a user manual.

Click the smaller button on the side of the pen for about 3 seconds and it should turn on.

When it is done turning on, different options should pop up on screen. You may have to tap the screen to get them to appear. To scroll through the options, swipe left across the screen.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

The last option listed should be the "Settings" option. Click on this to connect it to Wi-Fi. The pen requires a Wi-Fi connection to work. To do this, click on the Wi-Fi option in the settings and toggle the Wi-Fi switch to "On".

Unfortunately, the pens cannot connect to any of the ISU Wi-Fi connections and must be connected to a Hotspot from your phone. When it is connected, a Wi-Fi icon will appear next to the battery percentage on the top right of the screen. You can exit this screen with the arrow in the top left corner of the screen.

Connecting Headphones

To connect Bluetooth headphones, go to the "Bluetooth Settings" option in the settings. You can scroll through the settings by swiping upwards on the screen. It should be located just under the Wi-Fi settings. Toggle it on and select your Bluetooth Headphones.

You can change which way the pen faces with the "Pen Holding Mode" option in the settings.

Language Settings

You can choose a different language on the pen by scrolling though languages in the "Language" setting.

Reading and Scanning Text

To have the pen read text out loud to you, click on the "Read to Me" option. Then, press the end of the pen to the text that you want to read and scan it across from left to right. Press the end of the pen to the page with light pressure and a light should shine from the end of the pen. The text that you scanned should be on the screen. After scanning the text, the pen should read it out loud. This is how you will scan text when using any function on the pen. To turn the volume up or down, use the larger button on the side of the pen, pressing the lower side to turn it down, and the higher side to turn it up.

Dictionary Lookup

The Dictionary Lookup function is used to look up the definitions of terms. To use this function, click on the "Dictionary Lookup" function and begin scanning text in the same way as you would when using the "Read to Me" function. Then, the definition should appear on screen. Tap on the speaker icon to read the definition out loud. You can also tap on the star icon to bookmark the definition for later. You can access the bookmarks with the "Bookmarks" function.

Instant Translation and Live Translation

The "Instant Translation" function translates text that you scan into the language that you have set in the language settings. The "Live Translation" function listens to out loud speech and then can translate it.

Text Capture

The "Text Capture" function can be used to scan text and create a file from the scanned text to revisit later.

Voice-to-Text

The "Voice-to-Text" option can be used to dictate. When using it, speak out loud and it should turn your words into text and save it as a file.

ScanNote

ScanNote is an app that can connect to the pen. Find the app on the phone by going to the ScanNote function and then scanning the QR code with your phone. To find the app on the computer, go to https://wps.evolaclass.com/. On desktop you'll have to enter the pen scanner ID, which is located next to the QR code in the ScanNote function.

On desktop, to input the device ID you'll first have to select the correct device type.
