How to Claim and Set Up Your ISU Account

Welcome to the Idaho State University family!
By claiming your account, you will gain access to:
- Open your personal email inbox. Look for a message from iam@isu.edu with instructions to claim your ISU account.
- Note: This email is sent to the personal email address you provided to ISU.
- Open the email from iam@isu.edu.
- Copy the Account Claim String included in the email.
- Select the Claim Link to open the Password and Account Management Portal.
- Fill out the form:
- Account Claim Email: Enter the email where you received the Account Claim Email.
- Account Claim String: Paste the code you copied from the email.
- Date of Birth: Enter in mm/dd/yyyy format.
- Captcha: Check the box to confirm you are not a robot.
- Select Submit to continue.
tip: Keep your personal email open while completing the process.
- Open the Idaho State University Acceptable Use Policy (external link) page.
- Carefully review the policy.
- Select Accept to agree.
- Note: If you click Decline, you cannot complete the account setup.
- On the User Details screen, review your assigned ISU username.
- Your username is based on the preferred name you provided to ISU and cannot be changed.
- Select Next to continue.
- In the New Password field, type your desired password.
- In the Re-type Password field, enter the same password again to confirm.
- Select Reset Password.
Important Notes:
- If the passwords do not match, you will be prompted to re-enter them.
- If your password does not meet the required rules, the system will indicate which rules were not met.
- If you are reclaiming your account, you will also need to authenticate using Duo.
tip: Use a password manager to create and store secure passwords.
