Quick Connect
Most ISU Students, Faculty and Staff
- Open Wi-Fi settings on your device.
- Select TigerNet.
- Enter your ISU username and password.
- Select Trust on the certificate only if it matches merry.netel.isu.edu or merry2.netel.isu.edu.
iPhone and iPad
Step 1: Access your WiFi Settings
- Open Wi-Fi settings
- Go to Settings
- Select Wi-Fi
Step 2: Select the Network and Enter your Credentials
- Select TigerNet from the list of available networks.
- Enter your ISU Username and Password and press enter.
Step 3: Enter Network Settings
- Confirm the certificate is issued to:
- merry.netel.isu.edu or
- merry2.netel.isu.edu
- Select Trust.
Android and Chromebook
Step 1: Access your Wi-Fi settings
- Go to Settings
- Select Network & Internet
- Select Wi-Fi
Step 2: Select the Network
- Tap TigerNet from the list of available networks
Step 3: Enter Network Settings
- Enter the following when a configuration menu appears:
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA Certificate: Use system certificates
- Online Certificate Status: Request certificate status (if available)
- Domain: isu.edu
- Identity: Your ISU username
- Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
- Password: Your ISU password
- Select Connect
Step 4: Verify the certificate (if prompted)
- Check the server name
- Confirm the certificate is issued to:
- merry.netel.isu.edu
- merry2.netel.isu.edu
- If it matches, select Trust or Connect
macOS (Apple Computer)
Step 1: Open your Wi-Fi settings
- Select the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar
Step 2: Select the Network
- Choose TigerNet from the list of available networks.
Step 3: Sign In
- When the login window appears, enter your ISU Username and Password.
- Select Remember this network.
- Select Join.
Step 4: Verify the Certificate
- A Verify Certificate window will appear, select Show Certificate.
- Confirm the certificate is issued to:
- merry.netel.isu.edu or
- merry2.netel.isu.edu
- Select Continue.
Step 5: Authorize Connection
- Enter your Mac administrator password.
- Note: This is the password you use to log into your computer, not your ISU password.
Step 6: Confirm your Connection
- The Wi-Fi icon will show a solid connection when successful.
Windows
Step 1: Open Wi-Fi Settings
- Select the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar.
- Select TigerNet from the list of available networks.
Step 2: Sign In
- A Windows Security window will appear.
- Enter your ISU Username and Password.
- Select OK.
Step 3: Continue Connection
- If prompted, select Show details on the warning message.
Step 4: Verify the Certificate
- Confirm the server name is:
- merry.netel.isu.edu or
- merry2.netel.isu.edu
- Select Connect.
Step 5: Confirm Connection
- When you see “Connected, secured”, you are successfully connected.
Troubleshooting
- Check your username and password (try logging into your ISU email to verify).
- Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
- Select TigerNet, Forget Network, then try reconnecting from scratch.

TigerGuest: Guest Wi-Fi Access
Visitors, parents, contractors, and other guests without an active Idaho State University account should connect to the TigerGuest wireless network. TigerGuest provides temporary internet access for basic web browsing and online services while on campus.
Step 1: Connect to the Network
- Open the Wi-Fi settings on your device.
- Select TigerGuest from the list of available networks.
Step 2: Create an Account
- When prompted, select Create an Account.
- Enter the required information in the form fields.
- Review the Terms and Conditions, then select Agree.
- Select Register to create your account.
Step 3: Sign In
- Select Sign On to complete the connection.
DeviceNet: Register Entertainment Devices
Some entertainment and smart devices—such as gaming consoles, smart TVs, Roku, Fire TV Stick, and Apple TV devices—cannot connect to the TigerNet wireless network because they do not support the required web-based sign-in process. To connect these devices to the internet, you must register them on the DeviceNet network.
Step 1: Find Your MAC Address
Locate your device’s Wireless MAC address (also called Wi-Fi Address) in its network or system settings.
- This is a 12-character combination of letters and numbers
- Example: AA:11:BB:22:CC:33
Step 2: Register Your Device
- Visit the DeviceNet Registration Portal (external link).
- Enter your device information.
- Enter the MAC address you found in Step 1.
Step 3: Connect to DeviceNet
After registering:
- Open your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the DeviceNet network.
- Your device should connect automatically.
eduroam: Secure worldwide Wi-Fi access for ISU students, faculty, and staff through global participation
eduroam is a secure, worldwide wireless network for the global research and education community. Idaho State University participates in eduroam, allowing students, faculty, researchers, and staff to use their ISU credentials to access Wi-Fi at participating institutions worldwide without guest registration or repeated sign-ins.
Connect to eduroam
- Select the eduroam wireless network (SSID)
- Enter your ISU username and password.
- Accept the security certificate if prompted.
Access will be granted or denied based on your login credentials.
