Add or Change Preferred First Name in MyISU

Instructions on how to enter or change your preferred first name in MyISU.

Description

Faculty, Staff, and Students can request a name change or nickname for their first name that is not legal, and they can use a preferred name in many ISU systems. This name will be used on class rosters and other places where their name is accessible to the public.

Instructions

Update Preferred Name

Log into MyISU with your ISU Username and Password
- Note: Go to Forgotten or Expired Password if you need assistance with your password.
Approve Login using the DUO mobile app or hardware token
Navigate to the Main Menu
Click on My Account
Locate Personal Information Tile
Click Personal Information Self Service
In the Personal Details section, click Edit (top right in the block)
Type your Preferred First Name (The name you choose to be addressed by if different than your legal name)
Click Update
- Complete the Email Address Update Request form to request a new email address that reflects your preferred name

Include a short description of the change needed

Note: The preferred name must follow the Preferred Name Data Standards and will be confirmed for compliance before being used to create an email address or entered into our Caller ID system.
