This article provides instructions on how to install Sentinel One on your university owned device at Idaho State University (ISU). 

SentinelOne is ISU’s required antivirus and security software for all university-owned devices. It comes pre-installed on new ISU computers and must be installed on any device that does not already have it. Installation is quick and can usually be completed by users on ISU-managed Windows devices with minimal disruption.

Warning: These instructions are written for machines running Windows. If you have a Mac or other device, please connect with the IT Service Desk.

Step 1: Check if SentinelOne is Installed

Determine if SentinelOne is already installed on your system.

  1. Open the Windows search bar
  2. Type SentinelOne.
  3. Review the search results:
    • If SentinelOne Agent appears in the results, the software is already installed.
      • No further action is required.
    • If SentinelOne Agent does not appear, the software is not installed.
      • Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Install Sentinel One

Open the ISU Software Updater

  1. Locate and open the ISU Software Updater using one of the options below.

Option 1: Use the Start menu (Newer Devices)

  1. Select the Start button.
  2. Type ISU Software Updater in the search bar.
  3. Select ISU Software Updater from the results (the icon displays the ISU logo).
    • If the program opens, continue to the next section.
    • If the program does not appear, follow Option 2.

Option 2: Open Manually (Older Devices)

  1. Open File Explorer.
    • Tip: File Explorer may appear on your taskbar as a folder icon or in the Start menu.
  2. Select This PC.
  3. Open Local Disk (C:).
  4. Open the scripts folder.
  5. Select ISUSoftwareUpdate.exe to launch the program.
  6. Proceed to Step 3.

Warning: If ISU Software Updater is not available using either option, contact the IT Service Desk.​​​​​

Step 3: Send Your Information to the IT Service Desk

Find Your Device Name

  1. Select the Start button.
  2. Type About your PC in the search field.
  3. Select About your PC from the results.
  4. In the window that opens, locate the Device name under Device specifications.
  5. Write down or copy the device name.

Send the Information

  1. Open your ISU Gmail.
  2. Create a new email to the IT Service Desk.
  3. Include the following information in your message:
    • Your device name
    • Your department
    • A statement confirming that you have installed SentinelOne.

 


Completion

You have completed the setup process.
