Description
This article describes the process for faculty to view the results of course evaluations in the Watermark Course Evaluation system.
Details
- To access Watermark, enter one of your previously taught courses and in the left navigation menu, select Instructor Course Evaluations. No user name/password is required. Note: This link will not be available in courses in progress. You may also access Watermark via the link in an email automatically sent by the Watermark system (sender: courseevals@isu.edu) when course evaluations became available for viewing.
- Once you have accessed the Watermark dashboard, you will see a list of the evaluation projects that have ended. To view individual course evaluation results, click on the link for a project.
- For the course that you wish to view, click the download button and select a report type.
What is the Response Rate Tracker?
- Provides information on the number of respondents out of total enrollments (for all of your courses in a project), and the combined response rate for completed projects.
- Provides real-time information for courses associated with projects that are in progress.
- To see the response rate for individual courses (called Node Response Rate), click on the name of the project.
What Types of Reports Are Available?
-
Detailed Report: Results of evaluations, including questions and responses, weight, frequency, percent, percent responses, mean, standard deviation and median. PDF Download.
-
Detailed Report with Comments: Student write-in comments included with detailed report results. PDF Download.
-
Short Report: Results of evaluations in a condensed form, includes question, frequency, percent, means, standard deviation and median. PDF download.
-
Short Report with Comments. Student write-in comments included with short report results. PDF Download.
-
Raw Date: Excel file containing data about user responses, including timestamps and course information.
Can I Combine the Results of Multiple Course Sections?
The system only maps to individual course sections but if you would like to combine the results of multiple sections of a course you can create a batch report.
- In the Project Results section of the dashboard, click on the link to the project you wish to view.
- Select the boxes next to the courses you wish to combine.
- At the top of the window, click on Batch Report.
- In the window that opens, type a name in the Report Name box, select Aggregate Data for Selected Items into One Report, and click GO.
- The report will download as a PDF to your computer.
Note: The batch report does not aggregate the combined median for the sections. If you would like that type of information, you can download the raw data for each section, combine the two Excel files, and set up the calculation formulas.
What if I Have Accessed the Dashboard but Can't See My Evaluations?
When Can I See My Evaluation Results?
- Evaluation results will be available the day after final grades for the semester are due. Instructors will receive an email from the system (sender: courseevals@isu.edu) announcing that evaluation results are available.
- Evaluation results will continue to be visible.
How Do Students Access the Course Evaluations?
- Students will receive an email from the system (sender: courseevals@isu.edu) notifying them that they have evaluations available to complete. The email will provide direct links to their assigned evaluations.
- In addition, while the project is in progress students will receive a pop-up when they log into Canvas with direct links to any course evaluations they have not completed. They will be given the option to close the window and continue on into their course(s) but they will continue to be reminded each time they log in until they have completed all of their assigned evaluations.
Can I Give My Students Points for Completing the Evaluation?
-
You may wish to create an assignment with no submission in order to manually award points for completing the evaluation. It is recommended that you award points based on an established response rate for the course. For example, if 75% of students complete the evaluation, everyone will receive x points for extra credit. You will be able to view the response rate in real time via the Response Rate Tracker in your Watermark dashboard.
