Description
There are several ways to reuse a course or parts of a course. Most of them involve or are similar to a backup and restore process.
This Guide Will Help You to Identify:
- Import
- Backup
- Restore
- Reset
Import
Faculty can reuse some or all of their content from other courses they have editing access to by using the import feature. This allows teachers to re-use course materials instead of re-creating them.
For more information, review Importing Content into a New Moodle ISU Course [Faculty]
Backup
Faculty can create course backups with some or all of the course content. This allows teachers to backup or download an existing backup for safe keeping, or for use on another Moodle course site. It’s recommended that instructors back up their content regularly.
For more information, review Backing Up and Restoring a Moodle ISU Course [Faculty]
Restore
Faculty can restore a course backup file (.mbz) within any course to which they have editing access. During the restore process, the option is given to restore into the current course or into an existing course.
For more information, review Backing Up and Restoring a Moodle ISU Course [Faculty]
Reset
The course reset allows a teacher to empty a course of student enrollments and student work (assignment submissions, forum posts, quiz attempts) while retaining the activities and other settings.
Warning: The reset feature should only be used when the same Moodle course is being used with a different set of students. At Idaho State University, a new Moodle course is created for each new semester. Teachers will find the Reset feature useful for miscellaneous courses or courses that are not associated with an academic term.
