Configure Security Settings on User Account

Changing settings at the user account level will impact future meetings.

  1. Access your account settings on isu.zoom.us/profile/setting.

  2. Configure your desired security settings.

    • Waiting Room - When participants join a meeting, place them in a waiting room and require the host to admit them individually. Enabling the waiting room automatically disables the setting for allowing participants to join before the host.

    • Require Passcode - A passcode will be generated when scheduling a meeting and participants require the passcode to join the meeting.

    • Authenticated users - The participants need to authenticate prior to joining the meetings, hosts can choose one of the authentication methods when scheduling a meeting.

Configure Security Settings When Scheduling a Meeting

Changing settings at the meeting level will only impact that meeting.

  1. Access your account on isu.zoom.us/meeting.

  2. Either schedule a new meeting or edit an existing meeting.

  3. Configure your desired security settings.

    • Passcode - Only users who have the invite link or passcode can join the meeting.

    • Waiting Room - Only users admitted by the host can join the meeting

    • Authenticated users - Only users who have sign-ed into the desktop client can access the meeting.

Manage security settings during a meeting

The Security icon in the meeting controls allows the host or co-host of a meeting to enable or disable options during a meeting to secure the meeting and minimize disruption.

  • Lock Meeting - Locks the meeting, keeping new participants from joining the meeting.

  • Enable Waiting Room - Enables Waiting Room for incoming new participants or to move current participants into the Waiting Room.

  • Allow to share screen - Participants can share their screen.

  • Allow to Chat - Participants can use chat functions.

  • Allow to Rename - Participants can change their name.

  • Allow to Unmute - Participants can unmute their mic.

  • Allow to Start Video - Participants can start video.

  • Allow to Annotate - Participants can use annotation tools on shared screen.

  • Remove Participant - Allows the removal of a participant from a meeting. The participant can not re-join unless Allow removed participants to rejoin is enabled in Meeting settings.

  • Report -  Allows you to report a user to Zoom's Trust and Safety team. You will be able to select which user to report and provide details about the problem. You can also upload evidence, such as screenshots.

  • Suspend Participant Activities - Turn off all participant's video, audio, and ability to share their screen. Also lock the meeting to prevent participants from joining. This will apply to all participants including those joined using a Zoom Room.

Note that some options may not be present because of configured settings at the user account or meeting levels.
