Description

ProctorU (Meazure Learning) provides live online proctoring; and record and review proctoring for online exams.

Are there any fees associated with ProctorU (Meazure Learning) Proctoring services?

ISU pays the base fee for students taking proctored exams, with the exception of "On Demand" scheduled exams.
ProctorU offers on-demand scheduling features that allow test-takers to schedule an exam on an “On-Demand” basis. There are two on-demand scheduling types, which are defined below:

Take It Now (Less than 24 hours before exam): Students will be charged an $8 late fee.
Take It Soon (72-24 hours before exam): Students will be charged a $5 late fee.

To avoid on-demand scheduling charges, please be sure to schedule or reschedule any online proctoring reservation more than 72 hours in advance.
These late fees are at a discounted rate to ProctorU's regular On-Demand fees.

Which browser should I use?

ProctorU (Meazure Learning) requires the use of their Guardian browser. The Guardian Browser is based on the Chromium (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge) browser system.

What if I have technical difficulties while taking an exam?

If you need technical assistance connecting to your exam, ProctorU (Meazure Learning) Technical Support offers multiple convenient options:

What should I do if my computer does not meet the computer requirements?

If your computer fails the Computer System Test for the Online Proctoring solution, you may need to make arrangements with your instructor/department.

For example: have the instructor proctor the student in a face to face or Zoom setting or have a vacant office with a “Proctor Ready” computer that the student can use.

Using a standard computer lab on campus will not be a viable option with most Online Proctoring platforms.

Students must take the exam on a desktop computer or laptop (not a tablet or cell phone).

Can ProctorU (Meazure Learning) do offline paper exams?

No, ProctorU (Meazure Learning) is only recommended for online exams.

Can ProctorU (Meazure Learning) do exams on third-party websites outside of Moodle?

Yes. You must first add the ProctorU (Meazure Learning) LTI in Moodle in order to create your account.
After adding ProctorU (Meazure Learning) to your course

Login to go.proctoru.com
Your login should be your ISU email and the password you created when you first clicked the ProctorU (Meazure Learning) activity in Moodle.
Select Add a new exam
Enter the details of the exam, including the link to the exam.

Note: ProctorU (Meazure Learning) reviews all exams that are outside of Moodle. You will need to add your exam early (2-3 weeks before the exam time) to allow time for the review.

How can I set up a practice exam using ProctorU (Meazure Learning) to ensure students and I (the instructor) have no technical difficulties?

ProctorU (Meazure Learning) is not set up to do a practice exam. Students should test their system with the computer they intend to use to ensure they can access the system.

What do I do (as an instructor) if I have technical difficulties?

When experiencing a technical difficulty please send the following information to itrc@isu.edu and Brooke Poulin at bpoulin@meazurelearning.com (Brooke is our ProctorU (Meazure Learning) account manager).

This allows the ITRC to check the Moodle ISU quiz settings and ProctorU support to check their settings and come to a quick resolution.

Does ProctorU (Meazure Learning) limit the number of attempts that the student can make, even though Moodle is set to more than one attempt?

No. ProctorU (Meazure Learning) will use the settings in Moodle for the exam. If there is an additional attempt for the student, the student will be able to take the exam again.

What supports are available within ProctorU (Meazure Learning) for students who require accommodations?

ProctorU (Meazure Learning) has a place in the Allowances tab to request accommodations for specific students.

There is a checkbox for many of the common accommodations such as:

Use of Headphones/earbuds/earplugs
Screen Magnifier
Permitted background Noise such as a radio or television
Text to Speech Programs (Officially supported: JAWS, VoiceOver for Mac, and Narrator for Windows)
Food/Drink Permitted
Speaking/Reading Aloud
Restroom Breaks
Speech to Text Programs (extension based applications may not be supported)
Personal external medical device(s)
Human Assistant during exam (such as a scribe or reader)
Additional exam time (proctor will refer to time on LMS)

In addition, there is a space to describe any other accommodation.

How can faculty arrange for accommodations offered by ProctorU (Meazure Learning)?

ProctorU (Meazure Learning) has a place in the Allowances tab to indicate accommodations for specific students.

When you get to the Allowances tab, select Open Accommodations Form in a New Tab
On the form, fill in the information about the student, the accommodation, and the exam.
1. This information will be connected to the student's account in ProctorU (Meazure Learning)
Watch for the email verification. If you do not confirm the accommodation, the request will be voided.

Note: If the accommodation is for more time, you will need to add a student override for the exam in Moodle ISU.

Note: Do not Add a Window within ProctorU. This is only for recurring exams. ProctorU will use the settings and overrides within Moodle

Can faculty change the scheduling window for one or more selected students?

Yes, ProctorU (Meazure Learning) will refer to the time indicated in Moodle.

How does ProctorU (Meazure Learning) handle virtual machines? Can students take the exam with ProctorFree and look up answers without being detected?

The Guardian secure browser monitors for, detects, and terminates attempted use of virtual machines throughout the entirety of the exam session. ProctorU (Meazure Learning)’s live proctors address and prevent any behavior in real-time that could jeopardize the integrity of the exam, including an attempt (on a separate device) to look up exam answers.

How does ProctorU (Meazure Learning) handle privacy concerns and give the instructor and students peace of mind? For example, how does ProctorFree protect sensitive information when students verify ID?

ProctorU (Meazure Learning) strives to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse or alteration by using physical, electronic or procedural security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information in our control. Although guaranteed security does not exist on the Internet or offline, we make commercially reasonable efforts to handle such information consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
