Power On the Computer

Classrooms may have either an all-in-one computer or a desktop computer with a separate tower.

  1. Identify the type of computer installed in the classroom.
    • All-in-one computer: The Ethernet cable, keyboard, and mouse connect directly to the display.
    • Desktop computer: The computer is housed in a separate tower, typically located beneath the podium.
  2. Locate the power button.
    • On an all-in-one computer, the power button is built into the display housing and is marked with the power symbol.
    • On a desktop computer, the power button is on the front panel of the tower and is marked with the power symbol.
  3. Press the power button once to start the computer.

Sign In to the Computer

  1. Press Enter or Spacebar on the keyboard to display the Windows sign-in fields.
  2. Enter your ISU username and password
    • Note: Do not include @isu.edu with your username.
  3. Press Enter key to sign in.

Understand the Default Display Arrangement

Classrooms Without a Zoom Room System:

  • The main podium display duplicates the projector or TV at the front of the classroom.
  • Additional rear or side displays and secondary podium monitors are usually duplicated with one another and treated as an extended display.
  • The extended display may be positioned on either side of the main display, depending on the classroom configuration.

Classrooms With a Zoom Room System:

  • The Zoom Room system automatically assigns content to the available displays.
  • The displayed content may change when screen sharing begins or when remote participants enable their cameras.
Note: Review the Change Between Zoom Room Display Views article for instructions on changing the Zoom Room display view.
