Viewing Course Evaluation Results in Watermark for Administrators and Coordinators

Description

This article provides instructions on how administrators and evaluation coordinators can view the results of course evaluations at Idaho State University (ISU).

Guide Navigation

Accessing Watermark course evaluation results

If you are a program coordinator or an administrative assistant assigned to coordinate course evaluations, you will be assigned an Administrator role in Watermark. You are given access to specific colleges/departments and courses by the ITRC. If your access is incorrect or incomplete, please contact the ITRC for assistance at itrc@isu.edu.

Accessing Watermark:

  1. Log into Canvas using the Duo authentication system, click on your account, select Profile and select Course Evaluations (it may take a few seconds to load.)  Note: You may have additional roles in the Watermark system such as instructor and/or student. If this is the case, in the top-right corner to the left of your name, you can toggle between your roles.
  2. Once you access the Watermark dashboard, you will see a list of the evaluation projects that have ended. Each semester a "project" is created in Watermark to administer course evaluations. To view individual course evaluation results, click on the link for the project you wish to view.
  3. For the course that you wish to view, click the download button and select a report type
    1. Detailed Report: Results of evaluations, including questions and responses, weight, frequency, percent, percent responses, mean, standard deviation and median. PDF Download.
    2. Detailed Report with Comments: Student write-in comments included with detailed report results. PDF Download.
    3. Short Report: Results of evaluations in a condensed form, includes question, frequency, percent, means, standard deviation and median. PDF download.
    4. Short Report with Comments: Student write-in comments included with short report results. PDF Download.
    5. Raw Date: Excel file containing data about user responses, including timestamps and course information.

Tracking response rates

The response rate tracker provides information on the number of respondents out of total enrollments (for all of the courses you are provided access to), and the combined response rate for your department.

To see the response rate for individual courses assigned to you (called Node Response Rate), click on the name of a project.

Creating reports that combine results of multiple course sections

The Watermark system only maps to individual course sections but if you would like to combine the results of multiple sections of a course (such as in a metacourse) you can create a batch report.

  1. In the Project Results section of the dashboard, click on the link to the project you wish to view.
  2. Select the option you would like to use: By Hierarchy Level (department), Course, Course Section, or By Instructor.
  3. Select the boxes next to the items you wish to combine.
  4. At the top of the window, click on Batch Report.
  5. In the window that opens, type a name in the Report Name box, select the type of report you want, and select Aggregate Data for Selected Items into One Report, and click GO.
  6. You will receive an email with a link to download the report once it is processed.

The video, Watermark Aggregated Report (external link) demonstrates the steps. (3:00min.)

Determining availability of evaluation results

  • While the project is in progress (still available to students), you will be able to see the response rate tracker information in real time but no evaluation responses.
  • Evaluation results will be available to administrators and instructors the day after final grades are due. Administrators will receive an email from the system (sender: courseevals@isu.edu) announcing that evaluation results are available.
  • Evaluation results will continue to be visible after the project has ended.
