Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an exciting technology with great potential. ISU is forming an AI Steering Committee to define guidelines and policies that will advance AI at the university while addressing potential risks.

While these policy documents are in development, this article answers the AI-related questions that have been submitted to ITS.

Common questions about AI

Does ISU have an AI solution available?

Can my department purchase our own AI license or solution?

  • Please refrain from purchasing individual AI licenses for your departments. AI tools that have not been thoroughly reviewed by the steering committee can expose student or institutional data and introduce security risks to ISU networks.

Why is ISU not readily adopting institutional AI?

  • Idaho State University (ISU) recognizes the importance of this new technology. ISU also recognizes the necessity of ensuring that use of generative AI honors our existing commitments to security and privacy and our values as expressed through ISU Policies and Procedures. Concerns about confidentiality, protecting personally identifiable information (PII), academic integrity, and more are being considered by the AI steering committee.
