Log Weekly Cleaning
Open Google Drive.
Go to Lab Shareable Documents>Cleaning>Cleaning Sheet.
At the bottom of the sheet, there are two tabs labeled
Cleaning
, and
Hours.
Note:
you only need to look through
Cleaning
. You don't need to worry about looking at Hours.
Look at the two cells next to your name to see how much cleaning you need to finish.
Note:
There is a row for Rendezvous cleaning and another row for cleaning any of the labs outside of rendezvous.
Scroll down the spreadsheet to see a list of all the computers and labs that will need to be cleaned each week.
To log your cleaning, type your first name and the date next to the stations you have cleaned.
Note:
Cleaning should be finished by Sunday night every week and the spreadsheet will reset Monday morning at 8 am.
Note:
Representatives and technicians are able to leave Rendezvous for their cleaning after informing their supervisor that they are heading to one of the labs and letting the technicians know when they return.
Weekly Cleaning: All-in-One Computer
Use one or two squirts of the monitor cleaning spray on the monitor and use the lint-free rag to wipe the monitor screen.
Blow out the keyboard with canned air.
Note:
If no canned air is available, simply hold the keyboard upside down and pat it on the back to dislodge dirt, etc.
Put some alcohol on a WypAll and wipe the keyboard and mouse with the alcohol-damp WypAll.
Use 409 and the WypAll to clean the rest.
Note:
This includes the top, base of, underneath, and behind the computer as well as the desk top, legs and sides.
Wipe down the computer chairs using WD40 or other lubricants on the chair hydraulics.
Weekly Cleaning: Desktop Tower
Use one or two squirts of the monitor cleaning spray on the monitor and use the lint-free rag to wipe the monitor screen.

Wipe down the computer chairs using WD40 or other lubricants on the chair hydraulics.
Weekly Cleaning: Printer
Use a WypAll and 409 to wipe outside the printer.
Use canned air to blow out vents in the back of the printer.
Semester Cleaning: All-in-One Computer
Turn off computer.
Unplug computer.
Press the power button repeatedly to dispel any electricity.
Use one or two squirts of the monitor cleaning spray on the monitor and use the lint-free rag to wipe the monitor screen.
Lay the computer down on its front.
Attach ESD Wrist strap to wrist and to any metal piece on the PC.
Note:
ESD is an anit static wrist strap used to dissipate electricity to protect
Remove the computer stand from the computer and set it aside.
Take the backboard off the computer and set it aside.
Use the canned air to blow out the dirt/dust inside the PC.
Note:
use a pencil or something to hold the fans still when spraying them out, you do not want the air to spin them as it may cause the fans to die early from being spun faster than they were meant to spin.
Blow out the keyboard with canned air.
Note:
If no canned air is available, simply hold the keyboard upside down and pat it on the back to dislodge dirt, etc.
Dip a
Q-tip in alcohol.
Use the Q-tip to
clean off the areas
in between the keys on the keyboard.
Note:
These areas are generally left untouched during regular cleaning and they can get quite grimy.
Put some alcohol on a WypAll and wipe the keyboard and mouse with the alcohol-damp WypAll.
Use 409 and the WypAll to clean the rest.
Note:
This includes the top, base of, underneath, and behind the computer as well as the desk top, legs and sides.
Wipe down the computer chairs using WD40 or other lubricants on the chair hydraulics.
Move the computer to clean the desk area where the computer was sitting with wet wipes or 409.
Reassemble the computer and turn it back on.
Semester Cleaning: Desktop Tower
Turn off computer.
Unplug computer.
Press the power button repeatedly to dispel any electricity.
Attach ESD Wrist strap to wrist and to any metal piece on the PC.
Note:

Remove the side panels of the PC.
Use the canned air to blow out the dirt/dust inside the PC.
Note:

clean off the areas

Semester Cleaning: Printer
Pull out the
toner cartridge.
Pull out the
paper trays.
Open all of the
access doors.
Pull out the
long roller
under the toner cartridge with the blue tab.
Use the
canned air
to blow it out over a trash can.
Note: DO NOT
use canned air inside of the printer, it will blow toner into the fuser or other areas that shouldn’t ever be introduced to toner.
Use a
vacuum/Wyp-All
to remove any piles of toner.
Use a W
yp
-All and 409
to wipe out the insides of the printer, the duplexer, the rollers, and the outside.
Note:
Spray the 409 onto the Wyp-All NOT the printer.
Note:
DO NOT USE ALCOHOL ON THE PRINTERS.
Reassemble the
printer.
Run a few
test pages
to ensure that the printer is fully functional.
