Embedding Google Calendar into Moodle ISU [Faculty]


This handout can be used to help you create a Google calendar for your course which can be placed in your Moodle ISU course and will be useful for keeping track of appointments and assignments.

This Guide Will Help You to:

  • Modify the Calendar in ISU Gmail

  • Embed the Calendar in Moodle

  • Seek further assistance

Modify the Calendar in ISU Gmail

  1. Access your ISU gmail with your username and password


[Note: you can access you ISU Email through Bengal Web or directly through the Google login system]

  1. At the top of the screen, Click Applications


  1. Click Calendar


  1. Under My Calendar, select an existing calendar or create a new one

    1. To create a new calendar, click the down arrow next to My Calendar

    2. Select Create new calendar


  1. In the Calendar Name text box, Type the name of the calendar


  1. In the description text box, type a description


  1. At the bottom of the page, Click Create Calendar


Embed the Calendar in Moodle

  1. Click the down arrow next to the calendar you want to embed

  2. Select Calendar settings


  1. On the Calendar details page, locate the embed this calendar field

  2. Highlight the HTML code

  3. Copy it


[Note: Click the URL box and Press Ctrl+A to select all. Then, press Ctrl+C to copy.]

  1. Login to Moodle ISU.


  1. Access the desired course

  2.  Turn editing on

  3. In the Navigation Drawer, select Add a block


  1. In the Add a block window, Select HTML


[Note: the new block will appear on the right hand side of the course]

  1. Click the settings gear next to the title of the HTML block.


  1. Click configure HTML block

  2. In the title field, give the block a title. Example: Calendar.

  3. In the content text box, click the html option.


[Note: you may need to click show more buttons]


  1. Paste the HTML code into the source editor box.

  2. Click Save changes.
