Q: Do I have to download or install anything on my computer?

  • A: To take an exam, you must install the Chrome browser extension, but you can delete it right after the exam is completed. Note: Do not attempt to delete the extension during an exam. The browser extension is designed to detect any apps on your device that you may use or attempt to use during the exam, helping to identify any prohibited programs.

Q: Where can I take the test?

  • A: Choose a quiet, private, well-lit room and clear your testing area of unauthorized materials. Inform household members or roommates of your exam schedule.
  • The ISU Librearies offer private study rooms on each campus (Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Meridian) that you can reserve online (external link) in advance. You will need to provide your own laptop or Chromebook to take your exam in one of these rooms, as computers are not provided.

Q: Do I need an ID to take the test?

  • A: You need to provide a current photo ID. Acceptable photo IDs include government-issued (driver's license, ID card, or passport) or ISU ID card. Photos of your ID (especially on a phone) are not valid identification and may cause issues with accessing your exam. Please do not use military IDs or bank cards.

Q: How should I position myself?

  • A: Place yourself in a seated position facing the camera so your face is clearly visible and avoid wearing hats, sunglasses, or headphones (unless specifically permitted by your instructor).

Q: Can I have drinks or snacks during an exam?

  • A: Check with your instructor for their exam policies.
