How to Connect Entertainment and Shared Devices to DeviceNet

Description

This article explains how to connect entertainment and shared devices to DeviceNet at Idaho State University (ISU).

Warning:  DeviceNet is intended only for Smart TVs, gaming consoles (for example, Xbox, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch), and shared university devices (for example, front desk check-in stations).

Register Entertainment Devices

Some entertainment and smart devices—such as gaming consoles, smart TVs, Roku, Fire TV Stick, and Apple TV devices—cannot connect to the TigerNet wireless network because they do not support the required web-based sign-in process. To connect these devices to the internet, you must register them on the DeviceNet network.

Step 1: Find Your MAC Address

Locate your device’s Wireless MAC address (also called Wi-Fi Address) in its network or system settings.
  • This is a 12-character combination of letters and numbers
  • Example: AA:11:BB:22:CC:33

Step 2: Register Your Device

  1. Select the Request DeviceNet Registration button.
  2. Enter your device information.
  3. Enter the MAC address you found in Step 1.

Step 3: Connect to DeviceNet

After registering:
  • Open your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
  • Select the DeviceNet network.
  • Your device should connect automatically.
