Submitting a Turnitin Assignment in ISU Canvas for Students

This article provides instructions on how to submit a Turnitin assignment in ISU Canvas at Idaho State University (ISU).

Turnitin assists an instructor with evaluating the originality of student work and ensuring that the references have been properly cited. The Similarity Report within Turnitin compares student work against a vast collection of student submissions, premium publications, and 20+ years of Internet content in order to determine if the student work is original.

1. From within ISU Canvas, navigate to your assignment and select it.
2. The first time you access a Turnitin assignment, you will be asked to Accept the End User License Agreement. Please see the Turnitin Services Privacy Policy (external link) for more information.
3. You will see the assignment details, start date, due date, and the feedback release date (when instructors will make their feedback available to you); the maximum number of points, the rubric (if one is used); the policy for late submissions, if resubmissions are allowed and a list of any file types that are not allowed.
4. To submit your document, scroll to the Your work section where you will see additional information about File requirements.
5. Drag and drop your file into the box or click on Browse Files to locate and select the file on your device.
6. A pop-up window will appear with the Upload button selected. Scroll within the window to verify that the correct file is attached. Note: If you do not see the pop-up window, your browser may be set to block pop-ups.
7. Click on Upload and Preview. It may take a few seconds for your file to upload - once it is uploaded you will see a preview of your document, its title, the file size, and word count.
8. Select Submit to finalize the submission of your file. If you are successful, you will receive the message, "Your file was successfully uploaded". You can click on the X to close that message. No further action is needed and you may navigate away from the assignment.

If you submit the wrong file, check with your instructor to see if they allow resubmissions. To resubmit an assignment, click on the Resubmit button and follow steps 5-8 above.
