Cause
Forgot Password / Enroll in Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)
Resolution
If you forgot your Microsoft Office 365 password, you can reset it using Microsoft’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) option. To enable SSPR. You need to register alternate authentication methods. 
  • Note: If you do not have any authentication methods set up, you will be prompted when you log into Office 365
Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) Enrollment
  1. Type Idaho State University Email
    • Note: You will be redirected to the ISU login page. Input your current or assigned password.
  2. Configure up to three additional pieces of information on your account
    • Note: You should have a minimum of one, but three are suggested
    • Note: You will receive a call, text, or email if you select one of the two options above
  3. Select looks good
Alternative Authentication Phone (Mobile Phone or Text)
  1. Click Set it up now next to Authentication Phone
  2. Click the drop-down below Authentication phone [typically United States (1)]
  3. Type Mobile Phone Number [10 digits]
  4. Select either text me or call me to verify the phone number
    1. Text Me Option
      • Enter the code received in the text message
      • Click Verify
    2. Call Me Option
      • Answer phone
      • Hit the # key when prompted 
Alternative Authentication Email
  1. Select Set it up now next to Authentication Email
  2. Type an Email address other than your ISU Email
  3. Click the email me button
  4. Open Alternate Email entered
  5. Get the verification code from the email account
  6. Type verification code received into the field 
  7. Click Verify
Security Questions
  1. Click Set them up now next to Security Questions
  2. Select three questions from drop-down menus and provide answers
  3. Click save answers
