Computer Labs & Printing
Requesting Temporary Lab Accounts
Requesting Temporary Lab Accounts
Description
Occasionally, classes held in the computer labs may have guest speakers or other non-ISU personnel attending who also need computer access. Creating temporary lab accounts addresses this issue.
What is a temporary lab account?
How do I request a temporary lab account?
What do I do after a temporary lab account is used?
Instructions
Temporary Accounts
Generic lab login accounts are designed for
one-time use
during any given class period.
Once the account password is set and tested by ITS, the username/password is given to the responsible party to disseminate among class members.
Responsible Parties
The person requesting the temp account is responsible for disseminating the login credentials to the students and tracking which user is seated at any particular station.
These requests are processed after a
Computer Lab Assistance ticket
is assigned to the Lab Assistance Team.
Requests must be made between 7 AM and 4 PM on weekdays and at least 24 hours beforehand. ETS is responsible for processing the request.
Note:
Temporary Lab Accounts that also require printing may take longer to process and should be submitted at least three days before the event.
Important Notes
Labs that are using temporary accounts are
NOT
set up to print.
If the instructor wishes for their users to print, they will need to state this in the Computer Lab Assistance Ticket.
Post-event duties
After the reserved class has been completed,
reset the password to a new random password,
ensuring the temporary login previously created can no longer be used.
If the username and password were written on the whiteboard, a Lab employee must
erase the username and password off the whiteboard
once the class has concluded.
