Argos Web Viewer Instructions

Issue / Question
Argos Web is a tool that provides users access to reports created from the Banner database, excluding finance reports. The information is extracted from the Banner database every night.

Resolution
Argos Web is designed to access reports, excluding finance reports. To access finance reports, you will need to use the Argos Client. If you are not on campus, you will need GlobalProtect VPN to access on-campus services like network file shares and Banner.

Access Argos
  1. Sign in to MyISU with your ISU Username and Password
  2. Click the Work tab at the top of the white section. 
  3. Click Argos Web Viewer from the Argos Reports card
  4. Click Use Single Sign-On
  5. Click Argos Web Viewer
Argos Basics
Navigation
  • The Top Menu enables you to perform simple tasks, such as logging into a product, searching for items in the explorer, and customizing your toolbars.
  • The Middle Menu is separated into two sections:
    • The Left Half displays navigation links
    • The Right Half contains the action area
Note: The Explorer tab is the default option in the left half of the navigation area.

Retrieving Reports 
  1. Click a  Folder to see sub-folders with reports in them (left side)
  2. Once you reach a sub-folder with reports in it, the reports will appear in the center section with a Datablock icon next to them (right side). Click the datablock icon for the report you wish to run. 
  3. Select the report parameters from the options listed in the boxes in the white section.  Uncheck the All check box at the top of each box to see the full list of options. 
  4. Once you have selected all the parameters, go to the top of page and select the drop-down from Reports (top header)
  5. Click the Report Type you desire.  CSV takes all the data and puts it in a spread sheet.  The other reports are formatted as pages with the data organized in different ways.
  6. Select Run to pull the report. It will appear as a separate file, already formatted as either a spread sheet or a pdf, depending on what you chose.

Set Up a Shortcut
  1. Click a  Folder to see sub-folders with reports in them (left side)
  2. Find the Datablock for the report you wish to set up as a shortcut (right side)
  3. Click the Star button next to that datablock
  4. Click Create from the Create Shortcut window
  5. Click Close
View Report Shortcuts
  1. Click the Shortcuts tab (left side) by Explorer to view report shortcuts
  2. Choose the report you wish to run and click on it. The parameters page will open, and you can proceed with the rest of the steps outlined above.
