Using the Technology in the Fine Arts (FA) 102 Classroom

Notice: Input source selection on the Extron touch panel is having issues; however, the PC does share through correctly. If you need to use a laptop, please use one of the wireless sharing methods.

Description

This classroom supports in-person, hybrid, and fully-remote teaching. Multiple content sources route through an Extron control system and then through a Poly Zoom Room system to the projector and speakers. Built-in cameras and microphones, as well as TVs for viewing remote participants, are directly connected to the Zoom Room system. You will use two touch panels in this room:
  • Extron Touch Panel--powers on/off the projector and TVs and selects which content source is active.
  • Zoom Controller (Poly)--controls volume, microphones, camera, content sharing, and other Zoom controls.
  • Share content locally and to Zoom from:
    • Classroom desktop computer (Windows)
    • Laptop via HDMI
    • Auxiliary audio cable (3.5 mm)
    • VHS/DVD Combination Player
    • 6-Disk CD Changer
    • Dual Tape Cassette Player
    • Turntable (Record Player)
    • Any wireless device with the Zoom Client app or web browsing capabilities
  • Play audio through room speakers
  • Share audio and video with Zoom participants
  • Show Zoom participants on in-room TVs
  • Zoom Meetings should be created by the instructor and submitted to CAL IT via the Zoom Rooms Calendar Entry Request form.
  • All audio, video, cameras, microphones, projector, TVs, and speakers are controlled by the Zoom Room system.
  • The Extron panel only selects the input source.
  • All wired inputs have volume defaults set.
  • To display or share any video source, you must tap Share on the Zoom Controller.
    • This is required even if you are not using Zoom.
