Request Captioning Services

ISU Disability Services provide captioning assistance for the following video types:
  • Closed captioning for videos hosted on GDrive, YouTube, and Panopto
  • Open captions for clinical/HIPPA videos hosted in Box
  • Transcripts for podcasts and audio files
Note: To request captioning services, please complete the Captioning Request Form. The form helps Disability Services understand your accessibility needs and determine the appropriate captioning support for your video.

Share Videos with Disability Services

In order to provide captioning services, the disability services captioning team will need to you to share the following:
  • The location within the course where the video is linked
  • The media filename
  • The URL directly to the media artifact (i.e. YouTube, Panopto, etc.)
  • Where the video is hosted such as a personal of departmental DGrive, YouTube Studio Account, Panopto, Box
Note: You will need to provide Disability Services with access to your account for videos hosted on GDrive, YouTube or Box. Disability Services already have access to all videos on ISUs Panopto video management system.

Processing Requests

Requests for courses with students who require captioning as an approved accommodation receive priority. Our goal, however, is to make video content accessible for all courses, and requests are processed in the order they are received.

Captioning requests for non-academic content are also welcome and will be processed as they are received.

Tip: If your video has a specific deadline, please submit your request as early as possible to allow adequate time for processing.
