Requesting Captioning Services

ISU Disability Services provide captioning assistance for the following video types:

  • Closed captioning for videos hosted on GDrive, YouTube, and Panopto
  • Open captions for clinical/HIPPA videos hosted in Box
  • Transcripts for podcasts and audio files

To request services, please fill out the Captioning Request Form.  It has been designed to assess your needs and what is to be performed.

Sharing Videos with Disability Services

In order to provide captioning services, the disability services captioning team will need to you to share the following:

  • The location within the course where the video is linked
  • The media filename
  • The URL directly to the media artifact (i.e. YouTube, Panopto, etc.)
  • Where the video is hosted such as a personal of departmental DGrive, YouTube Studio Account, Panopto, Box

You will need to provide Disability Services with access to your account for videos hosted on GDrive, YouTube or Box. Disability Services already have access to all videos on ISUs Panopto video management system.

Processing Requests

Top priority is given to requests for courses with students enrolled who require accommodation services. However, it is our goal to provide accessible videos for all courses so your requests will be processed as they are received. If you need services for non-academic content, we will process those requests as well.

Tip: Please submit deadline sensitive content early to allow for adequate processing time.
