Using Dragon Transcription Software

This article provides instructions on how to install and use Dragon Transcription Software at Idaho State University (ISU).

1. Contact Disability Services to request access to Dragon software.
2. Follow the prompts on the Dragon installation wizard.
3. When you come to the prompt asking for the license key or number, type ISU as the organization and type in the following key in the serial number input: A209A K13 KAND EJEY PQ.
4. Once all steps are complete in the installation wizard, open Dragon from the shortcut on your desktop and follow the prompted screens.
5. Once Dragon is installed on your device, you can add the Chrome extension. See Dragon Web Extension in the Chrome Web Store.

• Text Control Indicator: When Dragon is active, the DragonBar will be located at the top of the screen. In the top right corner of the DragonBar, next to the X icon, there will be either an empty circle with a slash through it or a green circle. This is an indicator to tell you if DragonBar has control over text on the page you have selected (meaning it can type if it is green). Even if the indicator isn't green. you can still use Dragon's voice controls to navigate your computer with commands.
• Interactive Tutorial: When you first access Dragon after installation, a tutorial should open. This tutorial will lead you through the typing functions of Dragon. You can reopen the tutorial at any time by opening the Help menu and selecting Interactive Tutorial OR by turning on the microphone and saying, "Open help menu" and "click interactive tutorial".
• Dragon Training/Help/Uses: From the Help and Training menu, you can view information on options, settings, and voice commands. To access the menu, select the help menu icon and select Help Topics or say "Open Dragon help menu". After the help menu opens, select Get Trained and you can scroll through many different help guides and video tutorials.
