Moodle ISU Q&A for Faculty

Most commonly asked questions and answers about the Moodle tool used here at ISU. 


What is Moodle ISU? 

  • Moodle ISU is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by ISU. It can be used to facilitate delivery of online courses and house online materials for hybrid courses.

How Do I Request a Moodle ISU Course? 

  • When the course schedule is created, you may request a Moodle ISU site for your course at the same time. If the course schedule has been completed, you may contact your departmental course scheduler who will contact the Registrar’s office to have a Moodle ISU site added for your course.

Which Internet Connection/Wireless Networks Should I Use? 

  • We recommend that you utilize broadband Internet (e.g., DSL, Cable, etc.) when engaging with online materials in Moodle ISU. Some courses include video and large media files that require extra bandwidth to function properly.
  • Assessment activities (i.e., quizzes, assignments, etc.) can be unreliable if taken on a low bandwidth or wireless network environment (on or off campus). Plan accordingly if you wish to have a successful experience.

Which Browser Should I use to Access Moodle ISU? 

  • You should use Mozilla Firefox when working in Moodle ISU. Google Chrome is a close second. (Please note that some third party add-ons and plug-ins may cause conflicts with Moodle ISU. It is important--especially when doing an important activity--to disable extra add-ons and plug-ins to help you be successful.)
  • We do not recommend using Internet Explorer, Edge, or Safari when accessing Moodle ISU due to the high probability of encountering browser-related issues such as the inability to take a quiz or submit an assignment.

How Do I Access Moodle ISU? 

  • You can log into Moodle ISU either by using the link in BengalWeb or by going to  
  • Your Moodle ISU username and password are the same as for your ISU email. If you do not know your email username or password, contact the IT Service Desk at 282-HELP (4357) for assistance.

How do I Change my Moodle Password? 

Where and How Do I Get Help with Moodle ISU? 

The Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC), located in room B17 in the Oboler Library basement on the Pocatello campus, provides faculty and staff support over:

Fall/Spring Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Extended Hours (Limited Support): Monday - Thursday 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Summer Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why am I Having Problems with Moodle ISU? 

Answer the following:


  • Are you on or off campus? How is your internet connectivity? Are you using a cable or wifi connection? 


  • Are you using the recommended browsers? Does the same error occur in both FireFox or Chrome? Do you have a browser feature turned on that is preventing Moodle from working?


  • Are you using a standard desktop/laptop or using a tablet/smartphone? Does this same error occur on another device?
