Quiz Activity: Use Safe Exam Browser [Student]

Description

The Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a proctoring tool used by faculty in the ISU Computer Classrooms.  This document explains the steps for initiating the installation of SEB, accessing a Moodle ISU Quiz through SEB, and close SEB after completing an exam.

This Guide Will Help You to:

  • Open Safe Exam Browser

  • Access a Moodle ISU quiz through the Safe Exam Browser

  • Close the Safe Exam Browser at the completion of the quiz

  • Seek further assistance

Initiate the installation of the Safe Exam Browser

  1. Login to the ISU computer lab machine using your ISU account.

  2. In the bottom left corner of the screen, Click the Windows Start button.

  1. Click All Programs.

  1. From the list of applications, Select Safe Exam Browser.

  1. A black DOS window will open in the top left corner of the screen. This window will automatically disappear once the Safe Exam Browser software is installed.

  1. If a security window pops up warning that you have requested an encrypted page, Click OK.

Access a Moodle ISU Quiz through the Safe Exam Browser

  1. Login to Moodle ISU using your username and password. For more information, see Student: Accessing Moodle

  2. Select the course with the quiz you wish to take.

  3. Click the quiz.

Close the Safe Exam Browser at the completion of the quiz

  1. Once you have completed and submitted your quiz, Hold the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys to return to the Windows Log Off screen.

  2. Click Log off in the middle of the screen. This will log you out of Moodle as well as out of the lab computer.
