The Moodle ISU chat tool allows you and your students to communicate synchronously using an instant messaging type format. This tool is commonly used for creating virtual office hours or online chat class meetings.
Zoom is a web conferencing system (video centric) with video, audio, whiteboard, chat, application sharing, polling, breakout rooms and other tools to engage students in a synchronous (live) online environment. Our ISU Zoom license has been enabled with end-to-end encryption to facilitate HIPAA based compliance requirements.
Zoom has two types of recordings, Cloud recording, and Local recording. Cloud recordings are saved to the Zoom Cloud where they can be viewed, shared, and downloaded. Local recordings are saved to your computer. Both options provide standard MP4 video, M4A audio, and chat text files.

Online proctoring allows a student to take an exam at home or work. In most cases, students will be required to have a web camera and a microphone to connect live with a proctor. Students will need to share their computer screen and show a current photo ID. The online proctor will observe the student and their computer screen during the exam and report any discrepancies. Currently, a Live Proctoring Service is available for those teaching eISU courses.
